The Freelance ELT Editorial Rates and Fees Survey
The Survey of Freelance ELT Freelance Editorial Rates and Fees is run every three years, and the fourth survey took place at the end of 2022. The next survey will take place in 2025.
The survey is detailed and gathers data on fees and hourly rates across the ELT publishing sector for such tasks as proofreading, copy editing, content editing, writing, project management, consulting and training others. It also looks at emerging trends in negotiations, preferences for payment by set fees or hourly rates, issues surrounding increasing your rates in line with inflation, etc.
The Freelance ELT Author Rates and Fees Survey
The first Survey of Freelance ELT Author Editorial Rates and Fees took place in 2023, and we plan to run this survey in parallel to the editorial rates and fees survey every three years going forward. The next survey will take place in 2026.
The survey gathers data on hourly rates, fees and royalties across the ELT publishing sector for the authoring of various types of content. It also looks at emerging trends in negotiations, methods of remuneration, and so on.
Please note: It is important to remember that the information gathered in both surveys is in no way a recommendation or endorsement of any of the trends or rates/methods of remuneration that emerge. The listed rates are simply a snap shot of actual renumeration received by respondents, rather than an indication of recommended rates.
